PHIL 2033 - Medieval Philosophy: The Development of Catholic Culture Credits: 3 This course considers key figures who contributed to the creation of Catholic culture during the medieval period (5th to 14th centuries AD), especially as their work engages philosophy in dialogue with theology (fides quarens intellectum - faith seeking understanding). This includes, for example, St. Augustine, Boethius, St. Anselm, St. Bonaventure, Scotus, Ockham, and others. Special emphasis is given to the philosophical thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.
