PHIL 2063 - Modern Philosophy: Challenge and Response Credits: 3 This course surveys pressing philosophical challenges raised by the modern and contemporary periods of philosophy (15th to 20th centuries AD). Thinkers whose works are studied may include Machiavelli, Bacon, Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Kant, Hegel, Marx, and Nietzsche, among others. Various responses to their ideas and arguments are considered from the perennial philosophy of the Catholic intellectual tradition.
