PHIL 4013 - Thomistic Metaphysics Credits: 3 An introduction to metaphysics, or first philosophy. The course considers the nature and possibility of this fundamental study of all reality, the analogy of being, substance and accidents, essence and existence, the principal modes of being, the transcendentals, and the first causes of being. Special emphasis is given to the metaphysics of St. Thomas Aquinas, in dialogue with other thinkers, with the aim of preparing students for studies in Catholic theology.
