PHIL 4033 - Thomistic Epistemology Credits: 3 A systematic investigation of the nature and properties of knowledge, articulating the human capacity of gathering from contingent reality objective and necessary truths, while recognizing the limits of human knowledge. Includes a study of the types of knowledge, the difference between opinion and science, belief and its conditions, and the cognitive powers of the human person. Emphasis sis given to important figures in the history of the subject (e.g., Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, and Newman), with the aim of preparing students for studies in Catholic theology.
