PHIL 3023 - The Philosophy of the Human Person


Credits: 3
A systematic, philosophical study of the human person. The course considers three principal philosophical theories about what the human person is: dualism, materialism, and hylomorphism. Also considered is who the human person is in being and action. The course emphasizes the perennial approach of Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, and St. Thomas to understanding human freedom, emotions, and psychology, especially as a preparation for the study of virtue ethics.
