PHIL 3073 - Catholic Social and Political Philosophy

An introduction to the social teaching at home in the Catholic intellectual tradition - political, economic, and legal justice, human dignity and rights, and the requirements of the common good. The course considers various topics in political philosophy, including the political nature of human beings, government and the origin of authority, natural law and natural rights, nation-states and sovereignty, economics, war and peace, religious liberty, and Church-State relations.
