ENGL 3013 - American Literature 1: Enlightenment-Realism

Credits: 3
A study of significant American writers in their milieu from the beginning of American literature to the 20th Century. Special attention is given to the contributions made by women and minority writers to the emergence of a distinctively American literature. Includes such writers as Franklin, Cooper, Thoreau, Bradstreet, Wheatley, Ashbridge, Equiano, Emerson, Hawthorne, Melville, Whitman, Dickinson, James, and Twain.
