HIST 3053 - World Wars and Depression Credits: 3 Advanced study of American history from the beginning of World War I (1914) until the end of World War II (1945). In many ways World War II was just a continuation of World War I. This class will study the motives behind America’s entry into the First World War, President Wilson’s efforts to a lasting peace, the failures of Versailles, and the ultimate necessity to fight a second world war. In the midst of these wars the class will examine the prosperity and problems of the 1920s, the economic crash of 1929, and the Great Depression.
